1. VS Pathania as the new Chief of Indian Coast Guard appointed Veteran chopper pilot Virender Singh Pathania has been appointed as the new Director General of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). The ICG is responsible for the security of the country's more than 7000 km long coastline. VS Pathania, originally from Himachal Pradesh, is the first chopper pilot of the force to get a chance to lead it.

2. VK Tripathi appointed as the new chairman of Railway Board Vinay Kumar Tripathi has been appointed as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Railway Board. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Friday approved Tripathi's appointment.

3. Free Trade Agreement (RCEP) launched With the start of the new year, the world's largest free trade agreement has come into force. At present, 10 countries have started implementing the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). These 10 countries are China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

 

4. A total of 15 countries are included in the RCEP. These countries contribute 30 percent to the total GDP of the world. South Korea will join the agreement from 1 February. Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Myanmar have also signed this agreement, but their approval process is not yet complete. Countries included in RCEP will give up to 90 percent rebate in duty to each other in the trade of goods. RCEP will open its doors to new members after one and a half years.

 The exception to this is only India; because the provision has been made that India can join it whenever it wants. India was involved in the negotiations of this free trade agreement from the beginning.

 

 

5. PM Modi lays foundation stone of Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Meerut Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid the foundation stone of Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. According to an official statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office, the university has been established at an estimated cost of about Rs 700 crore in Salwa and Kali villages of Sardhana town of Meerut.

The Union Ministry of Education on 1st January 2022 Launched a 100-day reading campaign named "Padhe Bharat" with an aim to develop creativity, critical thinking, vocabulary as well as the ability to express in written and oral forms. This program is designed targeting students up to class 8. The campaign will also focus on Indian languages ​​like mother tongue, local language or regional languages.

11. On 29 December 2021, NITI Aayog published the e-booklet "Innovations for You", a collection of 41 innovations in technology along with 70 start-ups under Atal Innovation Mission. 12. LGBTQIA: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, "The Maharashtra Public Universities Act 2016 (Third Amendment) Bill was passed. This amendment Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexuali Bill by the Maharashtra Legislative Council on 28 December 2021 provides for the inclusion of members of the LGBTQIA community in the university board. The state government is advocating for the inclusion of "LGBTQIA" under Article 16 of the Indian Constitution on the grounds of equality of opportunity in matters of public employment.

 

13. On 27 December 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Renuka Ji Dam project on Giri River in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. A target of 40 MW power generations has been set under this project. For which financial support of Rs 6700 crores will be made by the Central Government. This project will meet about 40% of the drinking water requirement of the capital Delhi. We should note that the Giri River is also known as “Gari “Ganga '', this river mainly raises the water level of Yamuna River.

 

14. India's first indigenously built missile corvette ship INS Khukri (P49) was retired on 24 December 2021. INS Khukri was commissioned by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders on 23 August 1989. It had the distinction of being part of the Western and Eastern fleets. The ship was affiliated to the Gurkha Brigade of the Indian Army.

 

15. SilverLine / SilverLine project is a semi high speed railway project. It envisages trains running at a speed of 200 km/h between the northern and southern ends of Kerala. The total estimated cost of the project is Rs 63,940 crore. The proposed rail link is about 529.45 kms and will connect Thiruvananthapuram with Kasaragod. This project it is a joint venture between the Government of Kerala and the Union Ministry of Railways. The deadline for execution of this project is 2025 Is.

 

16. NASA and ISRO will launch the NISAR satellite on 29 January 2023 for co-development and launch of Dual Frequency Synthetic Aperture Radar by GSLV Mk II rocket. This will be the first radar imaging satellite, which uses dual frequencies. The satellite will be used for remote sensing as well as observing and understanding natural processes on Earth. For this project, the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) were involved for research work.
